Large construction company seeks a Chief People Officer (CPO) to be the corporate officer who oversees all aspects of human resource management and HR policies, practices and operations for the firm. The role will be in charge of managing the strategy and processes related to building and retaining an exceptional team of professionals, but must also be able to roll up their sleeves and execute solutions. The role is the senior Human Resource leader for the organization. They are an integral part of, and an essential business partner to, the entire executive team and community leadership teams, by ensuring a strong linkage between the strategic goals and HR programs. The SVP HR will align HR Functions to support the strategic direction and culture of the organization. Working with the executive team, the SVP HR will manage and grow HR services that function first and foremost to support the operations necessary to maintain a highly engaged workforce. The SVP HR will independently develop and manage a full range of HR programs to include and not limited to talent management, organizational and performance management, recruitment and retention, labor and employee relations, training and leadership development, compliance, human resource information systems, compensation and benefits. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Sets the tone for the team’s culture of trust, respect, and accountability through the creative and supportive improvement of hiring, training, and retention practices - Strategic direction and oversight of all major HR functions (hiring, performance management, succession, compensation, benefits, learning and development, safety and health, etc.) - Management of employee relations, problem solving, and conflict resolution in a manner that positively supports both managers and employees, and promotes respect for all - Planning, implementation, and management of employee engagement initiatives & HR services - Assessment and management of employment-related risk factors, regulatory & legal compliance - Oversight of all necessary record keeping, compliance and reporting requirements, including safety/health and management of the HRIS (currently using ADP) - Potential oversight of IT and other top administration activities. - Establish and implement HR efforts that effectively communicate and support the organization’s mission and strategic vision. - Develop HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the overall business operations objectives. - Function as a strategic business partner to the executive/senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key organizational and management issues. - Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals. - Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective for the organization. - Provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, career development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation and benefits. - Lead labor initiates to include current labor relations and negotiations and take active steps to maintain direct relationships with our team members - Oversee all team member relations and reduce liability by providing strategic direction and recommendations on all employee relations issues. - Oversee salary administration. Agency’s Chief Negotiator for Labor Relations. - Develop and manage HR budget. - Develop HR Metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR programs. - Supervise EEOC and DFEH regulations and complaints.
