Should I get an employment contract when offered a construction job?

Answer:

Whenever you are made a job offer by an employer, we as construction recruiters highly recommended that you obtain the job offer in writing so that you have a clear understanding of your construction job title, responsibilities, salary/bonus, vacation, insurance, perks and other job benefits. The details and spirit of verbal employment agreements can sometimes fade over time, and having your agreement in writing can save both you and your employer from any future misunderstandings. If the job offer is more than a page long and has legal verbiage that is not crystal clear to you, please consider having it reviewed by your attorney. Employment contracts written by construction employers tend to favor the employer and not the job seeker. You want to make sure that there is sufficient give and take with any fair contract.
