Do most construction executives retire at age 65?

Construction is a traditional industry that has been a dominant employer for centuries. It is also the largest employer of any market so the need for talent is high. As a result it is common to see construction professionals working well into their 60s and 70s. In fact the construction industry has a reputation of keeping talent well past the retirement age of 65.

It is true that many construction employers who envision hiring talent for the long-term will prefer hiring mature, experienced talent in their 40s and 50s. However the desire for proven, stable, and experienced older talent tends to dominate the upper management tiers of construction.
