How can a construction job seeker explain a bad job situation or gap in employment during a construction job interview?
Construction employers are typically reasonable and understand there is no perfect resume. They also understand the temptation for candidates to lie or conceal negative information on their resume so by reflecting the issue on your resume and being up front communicates integrity about you. Regardless of the situation, be honest about it. Prepare an answer and response prior to your meeting that is brief, to the point, and doesn't describe you or your construction employer in a negative light. Describe what you learned from the experience and how you can use that knowledge going forward.
